Do me this favour...
So the PDF form for traders had a few problems. It, and the volunteers form, have
since been replaced with PHP forms that DO work
It's just that the reply time is a little on the slow side... It could roughly be
measured in geological ages.
Needless to say, if you HAVE volunteered or registered for a table, we
have recieved the paperwork.
The real question is, are you helping promote your own sales by
putting up some of our fantastic web banners, and linking back here?

You would be foolish to refuse...
The redesign of the website finally went ahead, thanks to the crooning of Richard Cheese prodding our progress in this venture ever forward
Things are progressing smoothly on all fronts except for manpower, as the volunteers form has yet to be created.
Delays in the form are solely attributed to the terrible time people are having with the Trader's form... It's a PDF with XML return, because I know how to make those. I don't actually know how to make a
PHP form that would email an attachment that can easily be plugged right into a databse.
XML does it for me, but as it turns out, most people can't get it to work *sigh*
So, still in need of a decent web developer that knows some of the basic stuff...
Sure, I could teach myself how to do it, but considering how much other stuff
that needs doing, it's kinda hard to take a week out to learn how to make a
database compatible webpage as it's more than two A4 pages worth of info to take in...
In the meantime, enjoy the new design of the site, fitting in with our Cosa Nostra
theme of "Organised by Crime" (goes so nicely with the new venue too).
Don't forget to go to our Help Us page, and get a banner to put on your own web
page, or even just link to us. Anything to help increase our back links and
SERP is much appreciated at the moment. Feel free to consider donating while
you're there...
We also have a poster that you can download, print out, and stick up. It's in
B&W, so you can even just photocopy them while you're at work, then go
on a rampage, putting them up in local cafès and stores.
Faccialo questo favore... I won't forget it...

Ok. so the website redesign sort of didn't work a lot. One of the problems being that I really just don't have the time to be doing this all myself, the other being that the program I am currently using, CuteFTP, seems to have some sort of error with the GUI, making basic editing an incredibly frustrating experience. I will be endeavouring to get the registration forms sorted out ASAP, but could really use some help from someone that knows websites a bit better than I do, particularly as the Reg forms have some major problems with them.
If anyone's interested in helping out (for the love of god!)email me

Get Some Douji Auction!
Well, there are a lot of people out there that last year wanted to buy stuff that was, frankly, commercial...
We can understand the desire to be a consumer whore for mass market products, but
that's not what DoujiCon is about. However, there shouldn't really be a reason why you
can't profit off other people's willingness to buy your old junk.
So to that end, this year we're going to have an auction!
If there is an item you would like to have auctioned off, all you need to do is
register that item, and bring it in to the DoujiCon frontdesk. But how to register?
Well, download this form, fill it in, print it out (or vice versa) and then bring
it along with your item.
Hopefully, duringthe auction, someone will buy what you no longer want.
You will have more cash, they have some more stuff. Everyone wins!
The Auction will only last an hour, so there are a limited number
of lots, so be sure to register your items early. Those attempting
to offload a massive quantity of items will have their items
consolidated into bulk lots by DoujiCon staff.

Get Pimping, Yo!
OK folks, banners are up now, as well as the first poster. So get pimpin'!
I say this with love of course.....
Seriously though folks, DoujiCon is only as good as you help it to be, so you
need to spread the word like a venereal disease at Schoolies.
So please go to the Help Us section, download a banner you
feel is appropriate for your website and put it up. Mention us on your
LJ/DA/MySpace/GeoCities/etc. ell yuor friends using your own mouth.
Whatever, just help get the word out...

ARGH! My Brain!
OK, so the ball is finally rolling! Advertising is starting to get out there, word of
mouth is starting to spread, and there's a tangible sense of tangerine in the air...
Or at least that's what Robert Smith would have me believe.
This year has actually been harder to organise due to a whole bunch of extra
commitments popping up in my life (and a similar level of help in
pre-con organisation), but things are happening, and the website is
finally getting some attention.
Registration for volunteers and tables is open (kinda)
but needs to be updated (a lot) because I am only one man.
Whilst I could call on the help of Antonio, a sleazy Spanish
cephalopod is only useful in so many areas...
I'm off to the Melbourne Zine Fair tomorrow, so hopefully
that will attract some much needed attention to this
fantastic event.
Hope to see all you people there!

DoujiCon Z - And so it begins...
Yeah, I know, another really long time since the site's been updated. In my
defence, there was nothing to write about!
However, that changes... as of... nnn... now!
Yes! Doujicon Z has now entered the planning stages!
Whilst much of last year was good, and ran fairly smoothly for a first time con,
it would help greatly if there was more than one person on the
organisational committee.
As such, I'm casting my nets out for people that may be interested
in helping run this fantastic event.
If you're one of those people, then read the DoujiCon Positions
thingamy and apply.
This year is going to be bigger, BETTER, HARDER!!!

WHAT A DAY!!
Woah! It's been ages, but I've finally managed to get around to updating the site
Sorry about the massive delay there folks, but I really have been balls to the wall with this, and without a dedicated Webbie, it's kinda hard.
Well, lets see... First up, apologies to those who found the site down on the hursday night and Friday before the convention. Apparently, there were so many hits to the site, it had pretty much the same effect as a Distributed Denial of Service attack (but apparently wasn't according to our webhost... just a LOT of people try to get on). So that's kinda good in a way!
The day of Doujicon itself went surprisingly smoothly, even with the few minor hiccups that happened along the way. We had a pretty huge number of artists show up and take tables. 37 all up. hey made up slightly less than 10% of our crowd, which numbered over 300 people inside and browsing on the day! Not bad for a first time convention, if I say so myself!
Most people seemed to have an awesome time, even the volunteers. The Traders hall was obviously the hub of activity, but the screenings went well. Thanks to MadMan and David Blumenstein for the DVDs. You guys rawk... hard... like punks...
MCAC, the Monash Caulfield Anime Club, ran a very succesful gaming theatre. Games are always better in surround sound with a 4 meter tall screen... Apologies to those expecting Non-Stop Anime shenanigans. here was a slight communication error that prevented that from happening. I'll blame the OFLC for that one.
Everyone hates them.
The classes, which I had been hoping to be the centre piece of the convention, were
a roaring success! EVERY Drawing class was full, the Technical classes drew pretty
decent crowds, and the Q'n'A sessions came off nicely.
Orochi capped off the day with their insanely well done J-Metal stylings, despite some
Doujicon induced technical issues. They even received a standing ovation! Hopefully
we'll all be able to see them again at Manifest.
Well, that's pretty much it folks. If you have anything you want to say,
maybe some ideas for next year, there's a contact form on the site somewhere.
I apologies, but there are no photos. All the staff were too busy
running around doing their jobs to take any, but if you
google "doujicon" & "photos", I'm sure you'll find something.
See you next year at Doujicon Z
