Forum functionality added

Filed under: News — Gerkinman @ 10:43 PM

In a bid to keep this site relevant to the people that are going to be using it most, artists that wish to talk with each other and collaborate, some basic forum functionality has been added.

The forums can be found at http://doujicon.oztaku.com/forums

It should be noted that forum use does require registering with the site (anonymous posting is not allowed), but you’ll be able to use your OpenID / Wordpress account from other sites. If you are a regularly producing artist / animator / publisher and would like your own sub section, please get in touch with us at your convenience and we will arrange to have the section created. Likewise, if you think the forum could use anything in particular that would be of use to people that are part of the Australian graphic narrative community, please let us know.

It will be upgraded and updated along with the rest of the site as time goes by.

Forward Planning Has Begun

Filed under: News — Lena @ 12:49 PM

Plans for 2011 have already begun.

Currently on the agenda for next year’s event is:

  • Finding a time that’s more suitable for most people
  • Potential move to a more inner city venue
  • Moves to get some actual staff and a webmaster to keep this site updated
  • New skin for the site because this temporary one wasn’t meant to be anything more than temporary, and is kind of terrible
  • Adding an animated film festival element
  • Getting some actual sponsors!

If you’d like to be involved at all in the back end planning for all of this, please hit us up on the DoujiCon Facebook Page, or send an email to doujicon@oztaku.com

Thank you for coming

Well, DoujiCon IV is over, and now planning begins for DoujiCon V (Well, Manifest first, then DoujiCon V… and a goth convention, but that’s something else entirely!).

And didn’t we all have a wonderful time?

IF you didn’t, unlike other events that just want you to suck up and tell they how awesome they are, we’d actually like to know the reasons why so we can improve upon it next year, and make sure that if you come back you do have a good time and that future attendees don’t have the problems you experienced. We’d also like to apologise.

Even if you did have a good time, we’d still like to hear back from you, because we also do like the sucking up and being told how awesome DoujiCon is.

Click here for the Minifest / DoujiCon FeedBack Survey

Tell us what you thought, rate how things went, give us feedback for the future. Just don’t ask us for a pro-standard event unless you’re willing to help out, because atthe moment, this is still all one guy running things for DoujiCon amidst all the other things he does.

Anyway, please don’t forget to sign up to the DoujiCon Facebook page, as it’s honestly easier to maintain and communicate through.

Photos will be up shortly I guess.

Official DoujiCon Afterparty

Filed under: News — Egofreaky @ 5:41 PM

So for the people that don’t like the day to be over when the day is over, there is an official after party happening at the Racecourse Hotel, which is just across Dandenong Road from the venue, kicking off at 7:30.

We’re in the upstairs room, so be mindful of other patrons, and head on up.
The kitchen is open until 9:00.

Sorry about the delays

Well, getting someone to be a webmaster fell through this year, which means, once again, everything is getting done extremely last minute.

Please blame The Melbourne Anime Festival and OzTAKU in general.

Anyway, Maps of Doujicon and Minifest are now available.

The traders list has been updated.

We’re now in a frantic rush to get the program book made, and the bags stuffed.

Yes, there is a showbag for the first 500 people. Does it contain anything? Other than a program book, not really! But it’s a bag for you to carry your purchases in, which is basically what they’re meant to be for in the first place.
